Appearing in 1966, Efuru was the first internationally published book, in English, by a Nigerian woman. I was so enthralled with this novel and I couldn't put it down. It was different than what I thought it was because of the way it was written but it was great. Flora Nwapa wrote this as a womanist novel and people do label this novel as a feminist novel, but this is mostly about a woman named Efuru in a Igbo community trying to live.

I read this 1973 - 74 when I was in Secondary School in Cameroon. The Book is worth reading by everybody; especially women.

Great novel about a remarkable African woman. It was a good read and really showcased the experiences that African women experience. I really enjoyed it and would recommend it!
