How does music help them to construct social imaginaries and to cope with longings and belongings? In this study of migration music in postsocialist Albania, Eckehard Pistrick identifies links between sound, space, emotionality and mobility in performance, provides new insights into the controversial relationship between sound and migration, and sheds light on the cultural effects of migration processes. Central to Pistrick’s approach is the essential role of emotionality for musical creativity which is highlighted throughout the volume: pain and longing are discussed not as a traumatising end point, but as a driving force for human action and as a source for cultural creativity. In addition, the study provides a fascinating overview about the current state of a rarely documented vocal tradition in Europe that is a part of the mosaic of Mediterranean singing traditions. It refers to the challenges imposed onto this practice by heritage politics, the dynamics of retraditionalisation and musical globalisation. In this sense the book constitutes an important study to the dynamics of postsocialism as seen from a musicological perspective.

Eckehard Pistrick is a post-doctoral researcher and lecturer in ethnomusicology at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, Germany with a focus on Southeast Europe. He is an associate member of the Centre de Recherche en Ethnomusicologie (CREM), Paris and has, since 2004, conducted extensive fieldwork in Albania as well as in Greece, Bulgaria and Kosovo.

About the Author

Dr. Alice Roberts is an anatomist, osteoarchaeologist, physical anthropologist, paleopathologist, television presenter and author. She is the Professor of Public Engagement in Science at the University of Birmingham. Dr. Roberts has written four popular science books including DK's Evolution: The Human Story and the first edition of The Complete Human Body. She writes a regular science column for The Observer in London. She lives in Bristol, England, with her husband and two children.

Loved this story and was upset at how quickly it ended… I wanted more from it but I know it will be a series and hope it gets expanded.

Aaron and Joshua are on opposite sides of the table when it comes to a deal that needs to be made… in more ways than one, they both have secret..

Joshua is a lawyer trying to close a business deal on Aaron’s family land and is being pressured to make a deal no matter what…

Aaron is protecting more than his land, he is protecting his family secret… They are vampires cursed to live on their land forever and will protect themselves…

Holy crap was the sex hot in this book and I definitely did not want it to end… I want to read more since these men left a very good impression on me…

This book was great Aaron and Joshua were great together.
Wath left me hangi was that if they were bloodmates wasn't it sopose for them to have a bond so Joshua lifespand will be slower rate and won't age as fast as a human,that was the only inconclusive part of the book.what will hapen when he starts to age and Aaron still the same.
I recommend you the book so you have your own opinions.I really hope you like it like I did.I'll be waiting for the next book hope it's soon.

This book surprised me, in a good way. I loved the new take on how one becomes a vampire and what that means for them. Would love to read a book 2. Need more of those brothers.
