The classic classical guitar method

This book is almost 40 years old, but it is still one of the best guitar methods around. An excellent resource for any guitarist who is serious about improving technique. It includes progressive studies to enhance both left and right hand technique and numerous solo pieces at various levels of difficulty.
I made the mistake of loaning my copy to a friend and he liked it so much he won't give it back! I'm buying another one today.

The Standard for 100 Years

A wonderful and comprehensive book to help you learn classical guitar either with a teacher or by self study. It has been around for a hundred years for a reason.
You get just about everything including all the scales, keys up and down the complete keyboard. And the best part is the enormous amount of music written by Carcassi. And there is a series of pieces arranged by order of difficulty which is a great way to improve as you work your way through it. And Carcassi wrote some wonderful music.

Breakin' a sweat with the old nylon

This book is the boot camp of classical guitar studies. Only serious students and aspiring nylon knights need apply for this school in a book!!! Reading and understanding musical notation and vocabulary are a must(this book contains no tabulature) for aspiring classical guitarist, and this book certainly leaves nothing out in that aspect. It starts the student of with the basics, but progresses quickly. The studies are actually interesting, challenging and fun to play all the way through. No "Mary had a Little Lamb" or "Three merry Men" songs here to practice your skills on. It certainly kept my interest going in strengthening my weak reading skills. My only complaint is the lack of time spent on proper technique, and the fact that there are no pictures to help the student understand this aspect of classical. But I suppose that could be found elsewhere. I have no regrets in purchasing this book and it has only helped and inspired me in my pursuit of the instrument.

About the Author
Tim Newman, Ph.D. is an associate professor at York College of Pennsylvania. He earned his doctorate in sport management at the United States Sports Academy, his master s degree in education at the University of Virginia, and his bachelor s degree from Towson University. As a member of the United States Sports Academy's national faculty, Newman works with distance-learning students and has taught courses in Botswana, Malaysia, and Thailand. He actively contributes his time to a variety of professional organizations, community projects, and volunteer programs each year and recently accepted positions on the National Board of Directors for the Leaders of Tomorrow Foundation and the Board of Commissioners for the Commission on Sport Management Accreditation. As an avid golfer, he participates in competitive golf each year and is a director of the Golfweek Amateur Tour in the Washington, D.C., metro area. Newman's primary areas of research include marketing, social media, social networking, and issues related to leadership. His interests and areas of expertise culminated in the creation of the Dream Chasers Management Group, which he founded in 2011.

Jason Peck is a social media strategist with business-to-business and business-to-consumer experience in sports, entertainment, and ecommerce. He works at LivingSocial, where he focuses on social media and online marketing for the company's one-of-a-kind experiences and events. He also serves as Vice President of Digital Content and Community for the Washington, D.C., chapter of the Social Media Club, the world s largest community of social media professionals. Peck graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is a die-hard Tar Heels basketball fan. He lives in Arlington, Virginia/

Charles Harris has enjoyed a successful sport management career, having worked in college athletics, professional baseball, and professional hockey. He also worked as an assistant with the Anaheim Angels. In addition, Harris has extensive experience in the technology sector, first serving as president and founder of an Israel-based marketing and communications firm and later as a marketing technology consultant to top U.S. companies. During his time abroad, Harris owned the rights to market Major League Baseball in several Middle Eastern countries and territories. A graduate of the University of California, Irvine, Harris has served as an adjunct professor in the sport management graduate program at California State University, Long Beach, since 2004.

Brendan Wilhide is an emarketing and copywriting specialist at ForeSite Technologies in Connecticut and is a contributing writer for Macworld and Macworld.com. He served as play-by-play broadcaster and public relations coordinator for a number of minor league baseball teams including Ripken Baseball's Aberdeen IronBirds and the Vermont Expos. But this book provides a surprisingly fresh overview of the whole social media landscape while also digging into the specific and somewhat tactical details for a professional getting into the business.
